Fresh off his second NBA championship title, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry has secured the biggest contract in NBA history
Curry’s agent Jeff Austin told ESPN that he has inked a $201 million, five-year extension with the Golden State Warriors. The deal makes him the first NBA player to sign an extension contract that is over $200 million.

The contract will be finalized by the Warriors following the free-agency period.

Curry initially had a four-year, $44 million contract with the Warriors, but after bringing home two championship titles for the franchise he was offered a supermax deal. “We’re going to do whatever it takes to keep Steph here and happy,” Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob said in a statement, according to the outlet. “And I know he wants to be here and we want him here. So I do not anticipate any issues with him staying.”

Since being drafted from Davidson College in 2009, Curry has garnered several accolades in the league including two NBA MVP honors, four All-Star appearances, and three All-NBA first-team recognitions. He holds the third-highest career 3-point shooting percentage of all time.

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James, who has battled against Curry in the last three NBA Finals, took to Twitter to share that he believes Curry should be paid more.
