For more than twenty years, Stage Aurora Theatrical Company, Inc., has enlightened fans in the underserved community of Jacksonville’s Northside with professional theatre reflecting the Black experience.

“We aim to build bridges of understanding between cultures in relation to the human experience,” said founder and thespian Darryl Reuben Hall.  The theatrical company’s productions include original works with local youth, adults and celebrity guest actors performing on selected stages throughout Duval County. Volunteers, actors and supporters greet each play with enthusiasm to recreate national Broadway plays and original works from African American, authors, role models and leaders. Continuing their prolific work of art in grassroots communities, Stage Aurora cast of characters recently took over the stage inside Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church in San Marco for the ‘Shrek Jr.’ musical production.  Hundreds attended the two show production featuring  everyone’s favorite green ogre, as well as making other fairy tale creatures come to life. The entire class consisted of over 30 volunteer youth and adults who participate in the free arts program.  Each production showcases imaginative sets and costumes, and a host of over-the-top roles for expandable casts.  Future productions include the classic Aint Misbehavin and Drawn from the Water.
