The City of Jacksonville held their second Emancipation Day in JWJ Park in downtown Duval, bringing hundreds to the downtown park to celebrate and commemorate the end of slavery honoring the date in 1862 when President Abraham Lincoln freed slaves in the United States. The event is celebrated May 20th in the United States. This years festivities included African dancing, the Katz Downstair band, vendors and of course voters education and registration.
