A Cup of Inspiration Inc., held their 3rd annual cancer survivor event last weekend at the Hyatt celebrating under the banner of a “50 Shades of Pink Masquerade Gala”.
This year 16 cancer survivors both men and women were honored. The Mistress of Ceremony for the evening was Mrs. Jean Mitchell of Sisters4Sisters. Attendees came dressed in their favorite costumes, masks and array of pink attire. Many of the survivors shared their stories with the audience, as people were in awe, laughing and crying tears of hope and joy.

One survivor poured out her story of cancer from the soul by writing beautiful poems. Keynote speaker Oncologist surgeon Dr. Hank Hill spoke to the crowd, “The fight against cancer is to be brave and possess encouraging wisdom for caring for yourself and being proactive against cancer.” The music for the evening was performed by the Chris Thomas Band and vocalist Akia Uwanda. The Jazz and old school music kept the crowd swaying and singing. Comedian A-train had the audience in stitches and brought the house down with many jokes. Lastly, everyone at the gala proudly stood and sang happy birthday to all the cancer survivors.
