Over the weekend, “Team Crucifixion” church members of Crucifixion Catholic Church completed “Making Strides for Breast Cancer” a 3.1 mile walk that began and ended at the Jacksonville Landing. Thousands of walkers took part in the festivities starting at 7:30 a.m. The fun-filled walk honored survivors and paid tribute to loved ones who lost the battle to breast cancer over the years. Many sororities, clubs, church groups and individuals were also represented in the walk and fundraising. This year, 231,840 women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S. and it is the second-leading cause of cancer death in women. The team collected over $3,000 to help the American Cancer Society with research and financial support of individuals who cannot afford costs to undergo treatment. For the past three years “Team Crucifixion” received donations from parishioners, The Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver, Court 335, family members, and friends.
