Jacksonville Urban League Guild (JULG) and the Association for the Study of African American Life (ASALH) was designed to uplift and amplify Black voices in literature, featured book signings, author discussions, and interactive sessions where attendees engaged in meaningful conversations with writers.
Among the featured authors were Patrina Dixon and Cameron Marshall, who delved into the power of financial empowerment within the Black community, and Brianna Ellis and Demica Davis, whose children’s book encourages young readers to embrace their heritage with pride.
The event also included networking opportunities for aspiring writers and book lovers alike. Other feature authors included: Gwen Tarver Lee, Mary Manigault, Veronica Lake, Vanessa Boyer, Dr. Constance Brannon, Eric Watts, Marquise Reynolds, and Margo Thomas.
“This event is more than just a book fair—it’s a movement,” said Jocelyn Turner, the event’s organizer. “Each author here represents a piece of our shared history, our struggles, our triumphs, and our dreams for the future. Their words have the power to inspire, educate, and transform.”
