Journalist Roland Martins’ unfiltered news podcast was filmed live at Edward Waters University for a discussion on the university’s culture, business and finance future expectations and projections. The telecast was filmed for the Edward Waters University Distinguished Speaker ‘Stay Woke,’ series – a student and campus-wide academic series designed to engage students and faculty with speakers to engage the views and opinions from thought leaders around the country. Podcasts spectators were able to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the popular podcast that included dialogue from city of Jacksonville’s Mayor Donna Deegan, elected officials, clergy, EWU students, alumni and board of trustees. The panel discussion expounded on EWUs’ fundraising efforts, quality control efforts, the election and next steps for HBCU success. Several EWU updates were mentioned regarding new fencing, upgraded stadium, cafeteria overhaul dedication and new student housing on campus slated for 2025.
