Raines Alumni – Just Say Yes for the Future

By B. McNair – Sending out an ‘SOS’ call to action, the Williams M. Raines National Alumni Association (RNAA) president Venus Highsmith and the membership team coordinated a back-to-school drive for their alma mater. Members answered the call and donated a plethora of school supplies to their alma mater for the 2022-2023 school year. With recent pandemic outbreaks, quarantines and school district deficits, each year alumni resolute and ensure that students have enough supplies to focus academically when they return to school. RNAA’s yearly goals include expanding collaborative partnerships with businesses, raise money for scholarships and general student needs, while expanding Raines relevance, history, pride and traditions.
RNAA member Michael Riley was more than happy to step up and donate. “Our students should have a peace of mind too without a worry about supplies as academics loom over their heads,” said Riley. “It is our responsibility to get them off to a good start.”
