Peña-Peck House Hosts Friends of James Beard Dinner, January 2025

St. Augustine, FL – On January 26, 2025, guests are invited to celebrate culinary diversity in the nation’s oldest city – St. Augustine, Florida. Sponsored by St. Johns Cultural Council and the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council, this seven-course dinner will be a collaborative evening featuring dishes from Chefs Barry Honan (Lotus Noodle Bar), Marcel Vizcarra (Llama Restaurant), Genie McNally (The Floridian), Joshua Smith (Catch 27) and Matthew Brown (Asado Life).

Held in the garden of the circa 1750 Peña-Peck House, 143 St. George Street, located in St. Augustine’s historic district, the renowned chefs, each celebrated for their pioneering and authentic interpretations of regional gastronomy, will join forces to create a harmonious and mouthwatering menu. This collaborative effort will pay tribute to the flavors of the local area, while also showcasing the chefs’ distinctive culinary styles and inspirations.

Throughout the evening, guests will be immersed in the rich history and ambiance of the Peña-Peck House, architecture from the First Spanish Period (1565-1783) which has stood as a testament to the city’s vibrant cultural heritage for centuries. The intimate and elegant setting will provide the perfect backdrop for this exceptional culinary experience, allowing guests to fully appreciate the confluence of exceptional food, remarkable talent, and a captivating historical backdrop.

The event will benefit The James Beard Foundation, whose mission is to celebrate, support, and elevate the people behind America’s food culture and champion a standard of good food anchored in talent, equity, and sustainability.  The Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine will also be a beneficiary, supporting its initiative of Women Helping Women, raising scholarship funds for women age 30+ in the community.

The St. Johns Cultural Council is excited to welcome the James Beard Foundation to St. Augustine to share our rich culture, history and heritage through food. St. Augustine’s culinary artists shine bright and take inspiration from the land’s native flavors to create experiences unlike any other in the world.  As the city’s local arts agency, St. Johns Cultural Council is honored to support arts, culture and heritage including the city’s thriving cocktail & culinary scene.
