Always ready to share a few jokes, Ribault High graduate and comedian Terry Harris held an ‘Honoring our Legacies Pioneers of Entertainment,’ recognition day at his Sk8City Arlington expressway location. Hundreds of fans and friends of the DJ’s donned their skates and rolled around the rink sharing stories of musical radio and club days. Honorees included DJ’s Charles Scantling, DJ PHI-YA-RED, DJ Amp Lent, DJ TJ Stafford, DJ Jerome, and Tony Paschall.
Reminiscing on his youth and days of roll bounce skating at a former Northside Skating station in the 70’s, Harris and his team was proud to present this event, “These DJ’s were our guys that spun the hits throughout the city,” said Harris. The 29,700 square foot facility is reminiscent of the once popular northside skating rinks known as a place for Duvals youth to congregate in safe location. Shown is guest host State Representative Kim Daniels presenting DJ T.J. Stafford with his honorary award.
