After a 19 year hiatus, Nefertiti Books & Gifts recently held their re-grand opening inside their new location in Arlington on Fort Caroline Rd. Fans of the beloved bookstore that showcased authors of color since 1990, lined up to celebrate their relaunch and have their books signed by guest celebrity author Brenda Jackson.
Owners Naseem and Naseema Maat are the visionaries that were driven by a deep seated aspiration to create a sanctuary where family and community could come together. The former store was located on the northside on Lem Tuner where authors from around the world would gather for book signings and conversations concerning the African Diaspora.
“We invite the community to join us on this meaningful journey, to celebrate, learn, and grow together, as we embrace the challenge of preserving and expanding the legacy of Nefertiti Books & Gifts.
