Moncrief Kozy Korner Community Celebrates $300K Revitalization Grant

Wells Fargo has granted $300,00 to the Moncrief Corridor.  Located in District 8, City Councilwoman JuCoby Pittman donated 750K and spearheaded the project billed as “From Blight to Beautification.” The comprehensive plan focusing on four action areas: health and wellness, neighborhood pride, unity and safety. To initiate neighborhood pride, the action team held a holiday and marketplace celebration that intertwines the District of Soul association (also known as “the point”) and the neighboring community. Far past its heyday, the area remains home to diverse businesses such as child care, florist, funeral home, restaurants and more functioning despite neighborhood blight and neglect. the celebration event was outrage with entertainment that showcased a battle of the bands featuring Ribault vs. Raines High school, vendors, speakers and Christmas Tree lighting.
