Masjid Al-Salaam Celebrates 34 Years

On Saturday July 9th Masjid Al-Salaam celebrated 34 years of community service. From their humble beginnings on West Monroe to their present location on Pearl Street, Imam Umar and Adilah Sharif have served diligently. Masjid Al Salaam was founded on the principles of unity, interfaith dialog, and cooperation. Honoring their years of service were guest speaker Ken Jefferson and keynote speaker Imam Ahmed Aliyy, followed by reflections from friends and family supporters which included Rahman Johnson, Ida Ross Johnson, Padrica Mendez, Pastor Mary S. Killings and more. Masjid Al-Salaam continues it fight on the front line by providing seminars, workshops and entrepreneurial dialogue. The next scheduled Masjid Al-Salaam community event is their 2nd annual Marcus Garvey Family Day weekend at American Beach featuring entertainment, family activities and more.
