Local Girl Scouts Trek to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

First Timothy Baptist Church Girl Scout Troop 1123 and 1124 were all smiles at the Jacksonville premier of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress.  “I try to do different things with my girls as they are the future of tomorrow,” said troop leader Audrey Pridgen. “My teacher use to say to make sure your kids expect different, so I do different outings with the girl scouts. Our trips included many activities throughout the year,” she said. Throughout the year their diverse activities included everything from  ‘do it yourself’ workshops at Lowes or Home Depot, etiquette lunches, safety classes and even a bridge ceremony. Of course their main event is the the Girl Scout Cookie Sale fundraiser. At the end of the year Troop 1123 and 1124 will head to Washington, D.C. to tour the capital and hopefully run into President Obama! Kudos to the church and troop leaders for making a difference in our youth.
