For over a year author Meltonia Young gathered information regarding the Underground Railroad that runaway slaves used to travel south to freedom for her newly published book The Journey South to Freedom. The author recently held a book signing at the Clanzel Brown Community center, where over 30 seniors were excited to hear her journey. Attendees listened intently as the historian gave a special book reading.
“The result of my book The Journey South to Freedom reveals a three hundred year old story about freedom and a 100 year old war the United States did not win. It is a story about the other Underground Railroad that went through Florida including Fort Mose, The Seminole Indians, Andrew Jackson and more,” She shared.
