The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Alpha Beta Eta Omega chapter members sponsored a Virtual Voter Education forum to assist the community with information on voting in the next election. Panel participants included Renaldo Horn of the Urban League, Tanaine Jenkins of Reform Alliance, Jerry Holland, the Supervisor of Elections, Mone’ Holder of Florida Rising, and Lanelle Phillmon of The League of Women Voters. The information shared by the presenters helped those on the call learn more about the voting process and the importance of voting.
The moderators, Al Pete and Tia Leathers introduced the presenters and gave a brief bio of each speaker. Each participant shared the goals and purpose of their organization and how their activities impact the community. Their information was helpful to all on the call, as each person could share their information with others.
Early voting has started, sites are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It was suggested that voting early would be very helpful in this election, as it would eliminate long lines on election day.
In addition to voting, the award-winning chapter attended the chapters ‘Cluster II & III’ conference meeting in Orlando, Florida. This year, the chapters in Cluster III, which include chapters in Brunswick and Waycross in Georgia, along with Florida chapters in Jacksonville, Orange Park, St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, Sanford, Deland, Ocala, and Gainesville, met with Cluster II, which includes chapters on the west coast of Florida and Orlando chapters. The chapter received the Thelma J. Mosley Graduate Attendance Award. Arnitria Williams received the Felicia M. Leggett Social Justice Award and the Rose Dean Andrews Mentoring Award. These Awards are named in honor of former Cluster Coordinators for Cluster III. For more info visit link below:
