After decades of carving out the last Saturday in February for “Weaving the Web of Our History,” Springfield resident and community trustee Carlottra Guyton was formally recognized by Congressman Al Lawson for preserving history. The event encourages invited guests to bring an artifact from their past and a favorite dish for a potluck supper. The resulting event engages spirits of all ages to enjoy learning traditions of the past while fellow-shipping with treasured recipes. “Both the recognition and presentation touched me beyond words,” said the humble Guyton. After the event’s hiatus due to Covid-19, the return was welcome. “I love the outcome of this event,” she said. “I know its what our ancestors would have wanted,.”
