Raines Class of 1970 graduate Alexis June Barnes closed down the street in the Almeda/Avenue B neighborhood to celebrate her 70th birthday. Motown music blared from the speakers, while family friends from near and far joined the festivities. The day’s agenda included playing cards, dancing in the streets and enjoying the company of guests and graduating classmates.

Her retirement days consist of volunteering for local organizations and working part-time with her Auntie Junes Janitorial Service and doting on her grands. June is an avid camper and prides herself on keeping student literacy at the forefront with a self-serving bookshelf in front of her home, where youth in the neighborhood can read a book at their leisure.  Shown is June with her money pen ready to spend on her next vacation.
