JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) today launched two new programs through their Diversity, Equity & Customer Advocacy Program Office to support the development and sustainability of small and very small (micro) businesses within the Northeast Florida region.
The Local Small Business Enterprise Program and Micro-LSBE Program officially began accepting applications Friday.
“The JTA is committed to supporting local small businesses in our region as they chase the American Dream and look ahead after a difficult 2020,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “The LSBE and Micro-LSBE programs will make it easier for them to do business with the JTA and is another example of our commitment to the Northeast Florida community.”
Program Requirements
Participants in the Local Small Business Enterprise (LSBE) Program must:
- Be an independently owned and operated for-profit business that is not a subsidiary of another business
- Have a three-year average annual gross receipts of $3 million or under; if the business has not existed for 3 years, the gross annual receipts is based upon the annual averages over the course of the existence of the business
- Be headquartered in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau or St. Johns counties;
- Have a majority owner with a personal net worth that does not exceed $1.32 million.
Participants in the Micro-Loan Small Business Enterprise Program must:
- Be an independently owned and operated for-profit business that is not a subsidiary of another business
- Have a three-year average annual gross receipts of $500,000 or under; if the business has not existed for 3 years, the gross annual receipts is based upon the annual averages over the course of the existence of the business
- Be headquartered in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau or St. Johns counties;
- Have operated for 12 consecutive months;
- Have a majority owner with a personal net worth that does not exceed $1.32 million.
The JTA will also implement a Mentor-Protégé Program to build LSBEs’ capacity to perform as subcontractors and prime contractors on JTA’s construction and professional service projects. Prime contractors will serve as mentors, providing technical assistance to build the LSBE protégé’s business capacity to compete on JTA’s contracts. Mentors will receive evaluation points, or a bid discount applied during the evaluation of their bid or proposal when their subcontractor is a certified LSBE protégé.
