The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) recently welcomed the community to the Legends Community Center to view artwork submitted by local artists as well as to take part in choosing which pieces will be featured in JTA’s public art initiative. The event was attended by local residents as well as the local artist whose art was on display. “We are excited to bring members of the community together to see this inspiring artwork and highlight the deep pool of talent that exists so close to home,” said JTA CEO Nat Ford, “We look forward to the selected pieces becoming an enduring part of Jacksonville’s vibrant cultural landscape.” The artwork ultimately chosen will be prominently displayed at key transit locations in the Northwest Corridor.
The Northwest Jacksonville Corridor Improvements being implemented through JTA’s MobilityWorks 2.0 program will enhance the transit user experience for underserved communities in Northwest Jacksonville by improving amenities at 111 bus stops. Improvements are focused on safety and accessibility, providing equitable connections to destinations in the community, and embracing the communities’ identities.
