For the second year in a row the local Theta Phi chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated has been awarded the highest honor by the Florida Statewide Organization of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. At the recent Statewide Convention Theta Phi Chapter was honored for the work it does in the Jacksonville Community by being named the Florida Statewide 2021 Chapter of the Year. The Chapter has a long history and tradition of service to the Jacksonville community. Over the past four year’s the men of “purple and gold” have concentrated their efforts in the Eastside Urban Core. Theta Phi Chapter opened the doors of the Thomas A. Lang Community Center located at 420 E. 8th Street in 2017. A few of the programs the Men of Omega support in the community include food drives, voter registration, men’s health screening, mentoring programs for at risk males, talent hunt competition and various scholarships totaling over $15,000. Theta Phi Chapter is led by Basileus Sean Rush Sr., Commander US Navy Retired. The membership of Theta Phi Chapter includes doctors, lawyers, education professionals, military (active and retired) and entrepreneurs.
The local chapter is upholding the principles of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity was founded upon in 1911 with a stated purpose to attract and build a strong and effective force of men dedicated to its cardinal principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift.
