By Lynn Jones | The Jacksonville Jaguars gave the hometown crowd plenty to cheer about Sunday, September 27, defeating the New England
Patriots 35–6 at EverBank Stadium. Thousands of fans filled the stadium as the Jaguars delivered an impressive performance on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdown passes, while Travis Hunter delivered one of the game’s defensive highlights with an interception in the end zone late in the second quarter. Hunter’s first NFL interception helped Jacksonville preserve a 14–3 halftime lead and build momentum for a dominant second half.
The game-day celebration also showcased music, military service and Jaguars history. J’Nelle, an international R&B/Soca recording artist and vocal coach from Tampa, Florida, performed “The Star-Spangled Banner,” while Sgt. 1st Class Reginald Boss was recognized as the Veteran of the Game.
Former Jaguars standout Kevin Hardy, a member of the Jaguars All-25 team, was honored as the Legend of the Game presented by Arena Club. Hardy was selected by Jacksonville with the second overall pick in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft and became one of the defensive leaders of the Jaguars team that finished the 1999 regular season with a franchise-best 14–2 record.
From the opening anthem to the final whistle, Jaguars fans had plenty to celebrate as the home team improved to 2–1 on the season.
