Pink, Arts & Culture, on Saturday, June 8, 2024. The first of its kind event promises to be a night to remember with dancing, live music, food, beverages, door prizes, surprises, and a diverse cadre of entertainment experiences to delight the 1,500 plus expected attendees! Doors will open at 7 p.m.. With nearly 1,400 tickets sold, the event is poised to be the largest private event presented by an African-American organization in Jacksonville’s history.

 The City of Jacksonville has even joined in the fun by lighting up Friendship Fountain on the Riverwalk for First Friday at the Fountain on Friday, June 7th from 5 – 8 p.m. The festive pre-celebration will include a DJ, food trucks and of course the Fountain lighting and light show at 8.p.m. The downtown Florida Blue Building will also glow in pink on Friday night.

Held at the Prime Osborne Convention Center, the pink “takeover” bearing the sorority’s signature color, will feature a variety of themed rooms for guests to enter and experience the entertainment of their choice throughout the night. There will be seven themed rooms where guests can freely roam throughout the evening. Among the evening’s offerings will be: Old School Basement Party, Masquerade, Seven Bridges Blues Lounge, Monte Carlo Casino Royale, The Pink Rose Tea Room, Harlem Nights and the Chill Factory. For those who chose to optimize their giving and entertainment experience, Club 1908 for VIP ticket holders. Currently sold out at $275 per ticket, Club 1908 includes a private chef with upgraded food selection and an open bar amongst other amenities. Whether your taste buds are delighted by classic jazz and old school music, to games of chance, comedy and fantasy, IKONIC will be food for the soul! Doors open at 7 p.m. and entertainment will kick in high gear at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket prices range from $125 (General Admission) to $275 (VIP) and include access to the entertainment rooms, hors d’ oeuvres and a cash bar. Adding to the experience will be the IKONIC marketplace offering upscale shopping opportunities and a silent auction with exclusive offerings to support the innovative fundraising mission. Ticket purchases and sponsorships are tax deductible.

“IKONIC will offer something for everyone,” said Chapter President Roslyn Mixon Phillips. “We see it as an opportunity to give our community something different, which will allow us to continue delivering valuable services to those who need it most.”

Proceeds from IKONIC will help fund strategically focused programs in the areas of education, health, economic development, scholarships, and support the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (AKA CHIPP ™) program to fight hunger and provide meals to children in the local underserved communities. For over eight decades the chapter has served the northeast Florida communities and beyond. With sorority members serving as boots on the ground, the industrious international membership provides a cadre of services to a diverse community. 

The Gamma Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was chartered in Jacksonville, Florida on June 23, 1942, and its membership consists of over 400 professional, influential community leaders. IKONIC: A Fusion of Pink, Arts & Culture will serve as a tribute to the remarkable achievements and contributions of the sorority and its 82 years of contributions to the northeast Florida community as they continue to pay it forward through service.
