Historic Mt. Zion AME 150th Church Anniversary Celebration

Historic Mount Zion AME Church located at 201 East Beaver Street history begins after the Civil War; several dozen Freedmen organized a “Society” for the purpose of religious worship. On July 28, 1866, this group became formally recognized as Mount Zion A.M.E. Church. The church acquired the property at the northeast corner of Beaver and Newnan Streets, and a small frame structure was built for worship services on that site. Come celebrate Historic Mount Zion AME Church 150th Church Anniversary with the following calendar of events: pre-anniversary service Sunday, July 24 with a visit from First Missionary Baptist Church from Thomasville, GA at 10 a.m.; July 29th at 7 p.m. pre-anniversary service with Bishop Adam Richardson; Anniversary Prayer Brunch, Sunday July 31st, at 4 p.m. with Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick Jr., of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church an congregation; Anniversary Banquet, Saturday, August 13 at the Holiday Inn, 9150 Baymeadows Rd.; Historic 150th Anniversary  10 a.m. worship service and 4 p.m. musical extravaganza, Sunday, August 14th.
