The Board of Directors for the William M. Raines National Alumni Association has elected Venus Highsmith as President for the 2021-2023 school years. Highsmith succeeds W. Earl Kitchings, who served in the role for five years. A 1982 graduate of William M. Raines High School, Highsmith brings to the Board 20 years of experience working with nonprofits and fundraising.
The Association was established to continue the legacy of William M. Raines Senior High School through strengthening alumni relationships, general needs and building partnerships with the business community. In addition to Highsmith, the following officers were elected: Jesse Wilcox (Vice President); Kenneth Covington (Treasurer); Vernon Forrest (Financial Secretary); Alexis Barnes (Secretary); James Ross – (Parliamentarian).
