Local entrepreneur Sherry Blue held her 2nd annual Foundation for Fortitude ‘Pure White’ fundraising at Hoptinger Restaurant.
Foundation for Fortitude provides scholarships and mentors for young women at area colleges and engages them in community outreach. Participating students are required to participate in community service projects and volunteer at local agencies throughout the First Coast. Over 200 young ladies, family, friends and supporters attended the event. The special guest host was host was Marlo Hampton of The Real Housewives of Atlanta reality television show. Attendee’s applauded Sherry for her passionate outreach to mentor young women. Guest also enjoyed dinner, dancing and live music.
Hampton, a fashion enthusiast and entrepreneur spoke to the audience about her foster care upbringing, entrepreneurship experiences and her Glam it Up Girls non-profit program that empowers young girls in foster home situations. During the weekend, Sherry and Marlo took the girls to brunch, shopping and held a money management workshop.
This year seven local young ladies benefitted from the program and will receive recognition and graduate April 18th at the Ultimate Successful Women Program graduation being held at Edward Waters College. In addition, three awardees were recognized for their relentless commitment to the advisory board and going over and above to achieve their goals. They included: Fonte’ Cohen and Sherrill Terry (Director’s Choice Award) and Yvonne Mitchell (Harris Blue Humanitarian Award).
