Elks Align with NAACP at Annual Convention Held in Duval

The 123rd annual Elks Grand Lodge and 199th Grand Temple International Convention was recently held in Jacksonville at the Hyatt downtown.  Thousands of members arrived for a weekend of camaraderie including a member’s golf tournament, health screenings, grand temple cabinet meeting and educational workshops and luncheons.  The schedule was packed for the largest Black fraternal organization in the world. Yearly, the Elks sponsor scholarship programs, youth summer computer literacy camps, and children with special needs, parades and community service activities throughout the world.

This year’s convention highlighted the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between Elks (Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World/IBPOEW)  National and NAACP National offices for a common line of action and partnership aligning with NAACP’s commitment to investing in the Black community. The Elks (Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World/IBPOEW organized September 28, 1898, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
