by Lynn Jones – Rock & R&B Soul band the Doobie Brothers did not disappoint their fans on the First Coast! Held at Daily’s Place, the amphitheater was packed to capacity with fans of the legendary group.  Singer Michael McDonald held down the stage with his soulful singing, while the band collaborated on their gold-certified single hits:  “Black Water” (1974) and “What a Fool Believes” (1979) lead a catalog of hits that includes “Listen to the Music,” “Jesus Is Just All Right,” “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “China Grove,” “Take Me In Your Arms,” Takin’ It to the Streets,” “Minute by Minute,” “You Belong to Me,” and “The Doctor.”  For the record and according to their website www.thedoobiebrothers.com, the Doobies have tallied five Top 10 singles and 16 Top 40 hits.

Fans rose to the occasion, swayed and rocked to the Doobie’s prolific sound that began in 1969 and has stood the test of American time!

Personally, I remember in the 70’s at the height of their career, myself and friends purchased Doobie Brothers albums and professed our love for the band members.  In those days you chose a favorite band member which became your fan favorite, we made up dance routines and when ‘Minute by Minute’  and ‘What a Fool Believes’ came on the radio, we turned the sound up and it was evident the Doobie Brothers hits would last a lifetime.
