JAC began the night with a New Orleans-style processional walk, featuring jazz music and customized red and white umbrellas. The gala’s keynote speaker was DST’s 24th National President, Cynthia Butler-McIntyre. Butler-McIntyre, a New Orleans’ native, dazzled guests with her humor and a focus on history, leadership, and service. JAC President Christina Stallings explained, “Hosting our 79th Founders Day was truly a magical experience!..our 24th National President was nothing short of inspiring, as she reignited our passion and purpose.” As the gala came to an end, JAC received more than $30,000 in funds for its scholarship programs for deserving youth. Jacksonville City Councilman Rahman Johnson donated $15,000. Marguerite Warren, Chair for the Winona Cargile Alexander (WCA) Delta Life Development Board, presented a check for $16,000.
WCA Board member Gerri Orr added, “Delta was founded in 1913 on the principles of service, scholarship, and sisterhood. These funds will help us continue to do the work of our 22 Founders, lighting the path for youth to have a brighter future.”
The local chapter is under the leadership of Christina Stallings.
