Fresh produce, healthier lifestyles and stronger neighborhoods connections are taking root at the Common Ground Community Garden in Panama Park , where residents are transforming shared green spapce into a HUD for education, fellowship and community proel.

Located at 6912 Buffalo Avenue, the garden is an initiative of the Panama Park Neighborhood Association, bringing neighbors of all ages together to plant, harvest and maintain garden beds while promoting environmental awareness an sustainable living.

Beyond gardening, the initiative encourages physical activity, healthy eating and meaningful social connections. Volunteers also learn gardening techniques and pollinator-friendly practices that support the local environment.

Community workdays are held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, generally from 8 to 11 a.m., with seasonal adjustments to 9 a.m. to noon. Additional volunteer opportunities are available on the first Sunday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m. or by appointment.

The neighborhood association further promotes community engagement through meetings, Exercise in the Park activities, and gatherings at the nearby Senior Citizen Center.

More than a place to grow vegetables, Common Ground is planting the seeds of a healthier, more connected Jacksonville communty.
