I remember comedian Aries Spears from the cast of Mad TV comedy show. Aries bust out loud imitation impressions and skits were the hit of the show. Aries has a funny and diverse method of assembling his true to life imitations, highlighting well known comedians: Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Snoop Dogg and my favorite Denzel Washington! Early in his career Spears was on the sets of Def Comedy Jam, ComicView, It’s Showtime at the Apollo, The Comedy Store, The Improv and the Comedy Zone. With his raw unbiased talent, Spears spoke to Free Press and says he on his way to the Comedy Zone to bring his ‘uncut pure cocaine hard core real comedy,’ to Duval County!
When asked about the current state of comedy, Spears was quick-witted, “Everything is a little more sensitive now. Comedians have to navigate through land mines to make people laugh,” he said. Spears touched on the fact that comedy is not as honest as in the 1980s when comedy had yet to be stepped on. Meaning comedians now are openly ridiculed or in line to be canceled if fans don’t align with his stage act. What this means is that Aries is not afraid to push the sitting on the front row seats envelope!
