District 14 State Rep. Angie Nixon and Wayman Ministries, whose church and school are in the district that Nixon serves, held a food distribution outside the church West Campus location. One hundred volunteers from Wayman ministries were on hand to assist.  The giveaway was open to the public and was a drive-by socially distance event with volunteers placing groceries in the trunk of drive-by participants vehicles.
“We were so pleased to be able to work with State Representative Angie Nixon to help residents in our area and the community at large. Food insecurity is a real issue in our community and I look forward to us coming together again along with Farm Share to help families in need,” said Dr. Mark L. Griffin, Pastor/Chairman, Wayman Ministries.
This distribution was the first collaboration between Rep. Nixon and Pastor Griffin with local food donors to present over 500 families residents in the area the opportunity to receive bags of fresh produce. Due to the pandemic Duval County has seen an increased amount of food distribution collaborations throughout the city.  According to COVID-19 data from the Florida Department of Health, in Duval County, more that eighty-thousand Covid-19 cases have been reported with 114,070 total people vaccinated.  Shown is Brenda Merrick, Angela Frey and Jeremiah Tinsley helping to pack bags for the multitude.
