Flight to Freedom 2018

Many people do not know that the first Underground Railroad in the U.S. didn’t head north, it headed south to Florida. Slaves fleeing slavery in the Carolinas and Georgia often headed to the fortified town of Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose, now known as Fort Mose, in search of freedom. The tour offers visitors a “Freedom Trail” guided tours, colonial Spanish military demonstrations and period culinary demonstrations, February 8th, 9^th and 10th, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at  Fort Mose Historic State Park, 15 Fort Mose Trail, St. Augustine.
