Please join us for the 7th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Walk, a significant event, starting at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the historic Dallas Graham Library. Symbolically, our walk is “weary the road we trod” for the past 159 years in our quest for unfettered freedom and justice. The walk starts at 13th Street and Myrtle Avenue.
We had a great walk last year, but the number of participants could have been much higher. We walk for our ancestors, we walk to commemorate our heritage, and we continue the trek that began in 1865 as we departed from the strictures of chattel slavery along Freedom Road.
Let’s walk, let’s rejoice, let’s sing freedom songs, and let’s honor the known and unknown who journeyed along Freedom Road. We invite children, seniors, veterans, students, churches, synagogues, masjids, Buffalo Soldiers, Ruff Ryders, J’Ville Riders, neighborhoods, and communities to participate in this inclusive and diverse event.
