The 2nd Jax Urban Book Festival (JUBF) was held in James Weldon Johnson Park featuring local published authors. With over 20 authors present, the bookfest combined the business of storytelling and overall love of books for African American interests
Participants had their choice of workshops, networking, book signings and library resource tool options while learning everything from how to publish to mentorship/master class sessions.
The bookfest also presented an opportunity to purchase books on Florida’s banned book list in an atmosphere where authors and book lovers could dialogue on the future of African American novelist. Organized by self proclaimed ‘author groupie’ Natasha Slaughter, the one-of-kind venue reimagined the literary arts through inspiration and education of a yearning community.
