Members of the Bold City (FL) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated recently celebrated another accomplishment with the donation of over 3,000 books to the Sulzbacher Village. Their donation of books and furniture established a youth library for the center which houses homeless women and children.
“This is an exciting day for the Bold City Chapter,” said chapter president Pamela Prier at the grand opening. “We’re still working on more,” she said. “Our goal is that we can keep replenishing the books. We’re really excited about partnering with Sulzbacher but what’s more important is a long-term partnership.”
In addition to providing the books that the chapter plans on replenishing on a regular basis, they also present empowerment programs for the women and youth to enrich their lives. The chapter’s programming is under the direction of chapter program chair Wanda Willis.
“This kind of transformational contribution to our community is what we do in the Links,” said Willis. “In identifying the needs of the Sulzbacher residents, it was in direct alignment with our chapter’s service priorities. This partnership is a win-win for us all,” she said.
“It’s a blessing to have these new books,” said Cindy Funkhouser, Sulzbacher’s CEO and president. “Before this the library had no books or furniture and now the kids are so excited. Most of the children had no access to books. This opens doors to the children and widens their world.”
