BBQ Maven in Town to Encourage Seafood Consumption

Celebrated chef Gina Neely speaks as Mayor Curry looks on.

The Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) recently launched a national three-year public health education campaign and white paper in Hemming Plaza focused on solutions for incorporating more seafood into Americans’ diets to improve heart health. US dietary guidelines recommend eating at least two servings of seafood per week, but a recent USDA study revealed only 10 percent of Americans follow the guideline. Joining the SNP in Hemming Plaza announcing the launch was Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and Gina Neely, SNP chef ambassador and Star of Food Network’s “Down Home With The Neelys”. After weighing 154 lbs or more for years, Neely decided she needed a change and began her exercise regimen with a trainer and recently lost over 25 lbs.
