ASALAH Elects New Officers

On the eve of Black History Month, the local chapter of the Study of African American Life and History, Inc. (ASALAH) installed their new officers. The organization is the brainchild of Carter G,. Woodson known as the “Father of Black History”. Woodson made it his life’s mission to disseminate information about Black life, history and culture to the global community. The local chapter meets monthly and presents regular activities expanding the discourse of African-American history. Officers were installed by charter member Dr. Richard Danford. The officers left – right installed are President Hazel Gillis, 1st Vice-President George Gillis, 2nd Vice-President Anita Shepherd, Recording Secretary Glorious Johnson, Financial Secretary Faizah Mixson, Treasurer Bettie Hudson and Chaplain Christine McNair.
