Realtor and FlaJax Club president James Andrews was not going to let Hurricane Matthew get in the way of hi annual labor of love of volunteering as a celebrity reader at Lake Forest Elementary School.
For the past three years Mr. Andrews has been volunteering in the Celebrity Reading program. The program is designed to promote literacy and connect local community leaders to read and interact with school aged children. Children are also able to engage with positive role models in the community as well as learn about various careers and professions. He also reads at Brentwood Elementary and Lake Forest Elementary.
Annually, the Duval County Public School arranges the celebrity readings for students throughout the county. “The celebrity reading program is one of my yearly programs that I invest in. I always make sure I wear a tailored suit and adjust my schedule to accommodate the many questions from the children. As a retired naval officer, I inspire the children to travel the world and explore their creativity. I smile as they listen to my travels and excursion around the world. These children are our future”.
