All Hail the Birthday Queen!

Educator Dr. Norma White

Fiends and family of Dr. Norma White gathered in droves for her 87th birthday celebration. The drive by festivities included honking horns, shout outs and gifts for the honoree who sat in a chair fit for a queen to receive her well-wishers. The long-time native of Jacksonville is a history maker in her own right as the first female member of the renowned FAMU Marching 100. After graduating, White pursued a career in education in the local public schools, where she taught for more than 30 years, teaching and motivating students to reach for success. In addition, the hometown trailblazer served as the 25th International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated (1998 – 2002), and the intersection of 8th Street and I-95 is named in her honor.
