Activist Walk to End the Silent Disease of Epilepsy

By Tatyiana Hayes

On June 1, 2019, the Epilepsy Florida Organization held a walk for individuals who have suffered from this disease in Metropolitan Park.

Epilepsy is a disorder in which nerve cell activity is disturbed, causing seizures. Many survivors and people who currently have this disease came out over the weekend and volunteered and registered to run in the annual 5k Epilepsy Florida walk. More than 200 people participated in the walk for individuals who have and are suffering from this disease.

Statistically, people of color are more likely than whites to develop epilepsy during their lifetime.
