ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Brandye Mackey celebrated a milestone birthday with a gathering that reflected her journey of faith, family, resilience and purpose.  over 150 guests converged on Sullivan Hall at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fleming Island for the festivities.

The U.S. Navy veteran, entrepreneur and creative visionary recently hosted her “Finally 50” celebration, an event she described as more than a birthday party. The celebration served as a reflection of gratitude, cultural appreciation and the blessings of life’s journey.

Inspired by her appreciation for Afro-Latino traditions and the beauty of diverse cultures, Mackey designed the event to highlight community, connection and heritage. Guests enjoyed Afro-Latina cuisine, a build your own taco salad bar, a cocktail hour, sombrero hats and Junkanoo stilt walkers – a cultural tradition rooted in Caribbean heritage that added festive and artistic element to the celebration.

The event also showcased local entrepreneurs and community organizations, encouraging guests to support small businesses and nonprofits that contribute to the community’s growth and well-being.

For Mackey, every birthday represents an opportunity to reflect on life’s purpose and embrace new possibilities.

A Colorado native, Mackey and her husband, Chef Brian Mackey, a New Orleans native, previously owned and operated Mackey’s Munchies in Orange Park for more than 15 years. The popular New Orleans-style restaurant became known for its authentic cuisine, welcoming atmosphere and commitment to bringing people together through food, culture, and community.

Through her “Finally 50” celebration, Mackey hopes to inspire others to embrace life’s milestones with gratitude, honor cultural diversity and recognize the power of supporting local businesses.

She believe every season of life has a purpose and that some of life’s greatest opportunities and accomplishments may still be ahead.
