A resident of Jacksonville since the age of six in 1924, Ms. Rhoda Mae Lindsey Wilson where she would grow up and later graduate from Stanton High School. Ms. Rhoda married the late Rev. Allen Wilson, Pastor Church of Antioch Baptist, and became the proud mother of three children, with two surviving children, Joseph and Alene. After the early passing of her husband, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she owned and operated “Lindsey’s Restaurant,” a business that became known for its warm hospitality and exceptional home cooking. After a successful career as an entrepreneur she returned to Jacksonville in the early 80s where she honed her secret to long live – eating raw garlic. Jacksonville, Ms. Rhoda continued living independently well into her later years, remaining active and self-sufficient until about two years ago. She has always loved reading, sharing her self-proclaimed remedies, and reminiscing about her upbringing with her beloved parents — “Poppa” and “Momma” — and her siblings.
