On Saturday, March 23rd, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the S-Line Rail Trail, under the I-95 overpass near 2429 N. Davis Street. Groundwork Jacksonville will dedicate the Sugar Hill Mosaic a five-foot high, 96-foot long mosaic honoring the past, present and future of Sugar Hill, once the center of African-American prosperity in Northeast Jacksonville, bordered by Brentwood to the North, Durkeeville to the west, Springfield to the east and LaVilla to the south was home to many of Jacksonville’s most prominent African-American families from the late 1800s to the early 1960s.
