The James Weldon Johnson YMCA hosted its grand reopening, along with its annual ‘Family Reunion,’ on Saturday, June 21st from 10am-4pm. The event was free to everyone in the community to participate and peruse a variety of vendors, food trucks, youth sports activities, free swim testing, and more! Hundreds of community supporters, family, friends and neighbors danced and received information about the summer camps and healthy living programs offered across the First Coast YMCA locations.

The event also celebrated the extended operating hours at the branch, plus upgraded features that includes new flooring, painting and a commemorative memory wall of the branch’s history. In addition to opening the center to the community, a free shuttle was available to seniors to pick-up from the surrounding churches, schools and medical centers. “This is our house, our community sanctuary where we assist students, seniors and families. The James Weldon Johnson legacy continues to lift us to new heights,” said supporter Mincey Pollock.
