By M. Latimer – Graduates of Edward Waters University returned home to celebrate at the annual EWU Alumni Weekend. The weekend got off to an exciting start with the Inaugural Nathaniel Glover Golf Tournament. Held this past Friday at Bent Creek Golf Club, the event raised money for scholarships for EWU students and honored EWU’s 29th President and a member of its Class of 1966, Dr. Nathaniel Glover. Tournament chair Willie Wiggins explains, “We wanted to bring alums together and have a little competitive fun. We also wanted to do something special for President Glover because he has demonstrated how EWU prepares students for success.”

The golf tournament had more than 50 participants, who joined in a series of challenges on the green, had fun at the clubhouse, and some even reminisced about the great experiences they had as EWU undergrads. Stanley Cromartie, tournament co-chair, noted, “Man, this has been great. The weather perfect. It’s just amazing seeing all these Edward Waters Tigers come together to do good.” Honoree Nathaniel Glover added, “I am humbled and honored by this. To be thought of in this way is something special.” The tournament is expected to raise more than $10,000 for scholarships for Edward Waters University students.
