Mother Delta Cave
Mother Delta Cave was born December 9, 1916 in Jacksonville, Florida. During the post-war era, with meager means Cave helped her parents raise her sister and brother. She was married to Marion Cave and together they taught Sunday school and she sang in the church choir at Shiloh Apostolic Holliness Church. With an eye for beauty, Cave was a licensed beautician for over 40 years.

In her spare time, Cave volunteered as bus driver for local Headstart programs. Currently not as active as she use to be, Cave enjoys reading the Bible, attending cultural events and spending time with family and friends. As the oldest living student affiliated with the Douglas Anderson Alumni Association (DAAA). Cave often reminisces on the one room school house named South South Jacksonville School #107, that preceded Douglass Anderson School which in 1985 was established as an arts school. Roommates with her 89 year-old sister, she is the oldest living member of her family, ā€œIā€™m thankful to live this long. God is my leader and guider,ā€ said Cave. A devout Christian, her favorite song is “Walk with Me Lord” and scripture Psalm 121, whose daily recitation she credits for long life.
