Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Beta Alpha Zeta Chapter (BAZ) celebrated 80 years of services under the leadership of President Andrea Williams, with a heralded gala Sunday, April 28th, at Casa Marina Hotel located in Jacksonville Beach. The sold-out celebration was an opportunity for guests to share their accolades and support for the chapters mission.

“As we continue to forge ahead striving to better our community, uplifting our youth, supporting our Amicae friends, and advocating for maternal health, we are committed to positive change and perseverance,” said President Andrea Williams.

The chapter continues to uphold their Founders’ vision offering scholarships, while embracing sisterhood and finer womanhood. The sorority takes pride in its continued participation in transforming communities through volunteerism from members and its auxiliaries.

The Beta Alpha Zeta chapter was chartered, April 1944. The BAZ legacy includes the former Southern Region Director and 15th national President Mildred Carter Bradham, who served from 1965 to 1970. Her name currently upholds her legacy at the Bradham-Brooks library located on the northside.

The chapter also participates in the national Stork’s Nest initiative – a 40-year-old partnership between the sorority and the March of Dimes that provides community-based, prenatal, health for low-income pregnant women.

The chapter’s auxiliary is known as Zeta “Amicae” (Friends of Zeta). The Amicae auxiliary provides an opportunity for non-degreed professional women to be affiliated with Zeta and assist the sorority with providing positive, proactive community service, extending their outreach to the communities where they live and serve. “Our work is never done as we look forward to another 80 years,” said Executive Board Chair DrJudy Jones-Liptrot.
