Supporters of the Jacksonville Urban League anxiously attended their Annual Meeting at the Ritz Theater to share their accomplishments and awarded thousands in scholarships to deserving local students. The 2019 annual meeting and scholarship luncheon recognizes individuals and corporations who have made significant efforts in the areas of diversity and equal opportunity in addition to the scholarship presentation. The Urban League is the nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering African-Americans and others to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights. Services offered include: Youth Initiatives, Black-on-Black Crime Prevention Program; Employment and Career Development Program; Advocacy and Racial Inclusion Education (Centers for Leveraging Literacy Programs); Housing Initiatives and Counseling.
