By Lynn Jones – During the Covid-19 pandemic, birthdays are being celebrated in creative ways to publicly mark the occasion. Over the weekend, 1971 Raines graduate William L. Turpin, Jr. was feted with a surprise ‘68 is Great’ birthday celebration with family and friends from near and far. Surprise guests included family members from St. Louis Missouri, and a motorcycle caravan drive-by from the Jville Stompers Motorcycle club to wish “Turp” a happy birthday. Guest enjoed BBQ ribs by Chef Hawk, accompanied by a potluck feast prepared for the Merita Bakery retiree.
